An orphan without a family survives by stealing and a thief is what Amanda became. It was also what led to her being beaten to death by a mob when she stole bread from a plague house. A life without any luck was reborn when Rebecca Horne found her and took her in. Rebecca Horne taught Amanda more than just how to survive as an immortal. Most notably she believed in the concept of forgiveness; exemplified by her reaction to the attempted theft of the Methuselah Stone from her by one of her students. Eventually, Amanda left Rebecca to make her own way in the world, but it was not the end of their friendship. Like the Raven, a thief who stole the sun and the moon, Amanda became a creature of legend. She became both a strong colleague and formidable adversary.
