Gladius is a Latin word for short sword. Early ancient Roman swords were similar to those used by the Greeks. From the 3rd century BC, the Romans adopted swords similar to those used by the Celtiberians and others during the conquest of Hispania.
The proper use of the gladius is to lead with a shield and thrust with the sword. Contrary to popular belief, all types of gladius appear to have also been suitable for cutting and chopping motions as well as for thrusting.

James Horton (Renegade Watcher and Joe Dawson's brother-in-law) was the leader of the Hunters -- a band of mortals dedicated to killing all Immortals. He was born in 1945, and died in 1994 of a stab-wound inflicted by Duncan MacLeod. He had previously survived a pistol attack by Joe Dawson (falling into the Seine afterwards) and serious wounds by MacLeod's sword during the previous years.
Your Hunters that deal damage do an additional point of damage. You may include Hunter cards in your deck.

Joe Dawson served in Vietnam under Immortal Andrew Cord. In 1968, after seeing Cord shot, Joe accidentally stepped on a landmine, blowing him up. He was saved by the resurrected Cord, who carried him in back and took him to the army medical center. Not being able to cope with the loss of his legs, he tried to commit suicide by shooting himself. Before he was able to do that, he was visited by a Watcher named Ian Bancroft, who told him about immortality.
You may make a Hard Exertion to retrieve any Watcher cards in your Discard and place them at the bottom of your Endurance. You may include Watcher cards in your deck.

Richie wants to protect Laura Daniels, a young woman who's on the run from an Immortal bounty hunter, Mako. MacLeod has met Mako before and doesn't like his methods, but he knows the man is lawful. He questions whether Laura is necessarily innocent. Richie doesn't care, he wants to help her anyway, no matter what it takes. MacLeod is torn between doing what's right and helping his friend. Richie defeats Mako and receives his first Quickening, and he and MacLeod realize it's time for him to move on.

Mac learns that Immortal hunter Martin Hyde is behind the murders: considering the Quickening of a green Immortal like Richie not worth taking, Hyde has been hounding him in order to drive him to his teacher. MacLeod must clear Richie of the murders and defeat the evil Immortal.

The Single-Handed Broadsword is the single handed cruciform sword of the High Middle Ages, in common use between 1000 and 1350 and possibly even down to the 16th century. It is a common weapon in period artwork. The sword was worn by a knight even when not in armor and he would be considered "undressed" for public if he were without it.
If your opponent played a Power Blow last turn, you may play an additional attack during your turn. You take three damage when blocking a Power Blow and one damage when Power Blocking a Power Blow.
